My mom and dad, Cathy and Tom Darter, moved our family to Boerne from Lubbock when I was young, and it was the best decision they could have made for us! Along with my parents and my immediate family, my brothers, Chad and Clint, and their families, also reside in the Boerne and Fair Oaks area. It's a blessing that we get to raise our families and do life together where we grew up and attended school. My parents are some of the most incredible people I know, and they gave us a wonderful childhood in Boerne, and continue to bless us so much, in every way! I am very thankful for my family in Boerne and Fair Oaks, and for my extended family in Oklahoma, Austin, Houston and beyond!
I have been married to my husband, Chris, for 22 years this August, and together we have four children. McCoy is a senior at Boerne High School and will graduate in May. He played football, basketball, and ran track for the Greyhounds, participates in the Hope Squad suicide prevention program, National Honors Society, Student Council, and Young Life, was a member of Young Men's Service League where he spent his time serving others, and leads a 5th grade Bible Study. Upon graduation, he will attend the University of Texas in Austin as a student-athlete. Hook 'em! Hudson is a sophomore and loves to play football and run track. He also leads a Bible Study for 4th grade boys, is a middle school WyldLife Leader, and was also a member of Young Men's Service League. If you can't find him with his friends or on the track, he's probably at the gym! Averley is in 7th grade and enjoys spending time with her friends, being part of her Still Water NUEYO Bible Study and competing in sports. She plays basketball year-round, loves volleyball, and running hurdles in track, but she will tell you her favorite sport is the sport she is playing at that particular moment! Our youngest, Coleman, is a 4th grader and enjoys his friends, going to Bible Study that his big brother helps lead, playing games, and competing in football, basketball and baseball!
My husband is a home-builder and just completed our new home off of 474. We've lived in English Oaks, Anaqua Springs, Menger Springs, Fair Oaks, Spring Creek Estates, and downtown Boerne. Over the years, our kids attended several schools including: Curington, Herff, Fair Oaks, Middle School North and BHS. My niece and nephew from Boerne currently attend Geneva and my other three nieces who live in Fair Oaks attend Voss and Champion! With that said, it's obvious we have our hearts in a lot of great places in our community!
We're blessed!
I call myself a Boerne Hometown girl because of my strong, long-standing connection with Boerne and the school district. I spent most of my growing-up years in Boerne, attending school and participating in church activities, sports, and extra-curriculars. I graduated from Boerne High School in 1998, and I fondly remember positive experiences with many administrators, teachers, and coaches. Sam Champion was my principal, and I will forever "champion" his legacy, as his impact is unforgettable in my life and our community.
I still recall the names of and keep in touch with many influential teachers who believed in me and the coaches who pushed me to be the best I could be, not just on the court and the track, but also in life. My high school mentor is someone I still look up to so much and often go to for wisdom and advice. Without reservation, I am confident I am who I am today because of my role models I had, and still have, from BISD! Pictured above is my youngest son, Coleman, with his kinder teacher, Mrs. Sandoval. I am quite certain he'll have the same sentiments someday in his life that I have about teachers, coaches and administrators who made a lasting impact in mine!
After high school, I attended Texas State University, formerly called Southwest Texas State, and enjoyed my time there as a student-athlete. I studied Business and Communications and graduated Suma Cum Laude in 2002, while running Track and Cross Country. I was voted a track team captain and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes officer in college in my junior and senior years.
My leadership attributes were accentuated and built upon by those who coached and taught me in high school and college. I am forever grateful for the blessing of positive role models who held me to a high standard to excel both in the classroom and outside of it. Whether on the track, in school, or other areas of life, these individuals motivated and encouraged me to strive for success. Because of the vital administrator, teacher, and coach relationships, I still hold their influences in my life in high regard, and I am forever grateful for each of them. Thank you to those who have poured into me, shaped, and influenced my life because, TOGETHER, you helped make me better!
Right after college, I began working full-time, where I held an internship during college summers at Nike Timing and Vision in Austin, TX. In the Team Sports Sales Division, I offered sales support to our reps and traveled to Nike events, providing product demonstrations and information. I worked hands-on with our buyers, vendors, and end-users, and collaborated with multiple colleges to get our products on the Nike-sponsored coaches and athletes.
While working at Nike, I also gained experience traveling to annual New York, Boston, and Chicago marathons. I also served as a Nike Timing and Vision representative at the USA Track and Field Olympic Trials. At each endeavor, I set up booths where I sold and demonstrated our Heart Rate Monitors and other timing devices and promoted sunglasses to athletes and spectators. While in this position, I also attended annual market weeks in New York, where I set up our Nike showroom with products and marketing collateral and offered sales support. Working alongside others has always been a passion of mine, and at each position along the way, I found joy, satisfaction and success.
After I moved back to Boerne, I balanced work and family life by joining the family business and working in sales and sales support for our oil and gas company, Jet Specialty, Inc. I am very thankful for the opportunity to work for our family business, which allows me to collaborate with family and have flexibility. It was challenging with young kids as we started growing our family, so I juggled for several years, eventually spending most of my time as a stay-at-home mom and a part-time employee, while volunteering for BISD in many ways!
I love volunteering my time and investing in the lives of others. It is a great way to give back to the community, and I strive to impact people's lives positively. I serve on multiple district-wide committees and at my children's schools. It's essential to be involved in our children's education and to give back in any way we can, and in turn, we get to see how our school district operates and how truly blessed we are from top to bottom and all around!
I also enjoy serving the amazing Boerne Blaze Special Olympics athletes. As a mom-member of the Young Men's Service League, Boerne Chapter, I help coordinate volunteers for local philanthropies. The philanthropy I chose to focus on is Boerne Blaze because the children are fascinating, and many attend schools within our district. I have gathered volunteers and participated in helping coordinate Special Olympics duathlons, coached at duathlon training where I planned practices and demonstrated track drills, and coached at cycling clinics and swimming, basketball, and tennis lessons. Time stops for me while serving the incredible Boerne Blaze Special Olympics athletes. Witnessing their determination and perseverance is heartwarming and simply inspiring. The joy and sense of accomplishment they exude are infectious, and it's an honor to be able to contribute to their growth and development. Serving in this capacity always leaves me feeling grateful and fulfilled, and I look forward to continuing to team up!
We are better TOGETHER!
Life for me is all about my faith, family, and relationships, so when an opportunity presented itself to link up with Hill Country Comets Track Club and coach with a group of incredible fellow coaches, alongside my kids being involved, this was a no-brainer! I've coached kids from Boerne, Fair Oaks, and the surrounding areas, and along the way, found a true passion for encouraging, motivating, and connecting with kids and their families. Meaningful relationships being formed due to coaching has been the biggest blessing in my life, and TOGETHER, I'm better for it!

My family and I love to stay active and spend time outdoors. Most of the time, we attend sporting events, participating or watching others! The ranch is a fun place to escape, and fishing and hunting are pastimes we enjoy there. Snow skiing is another family favorite, as it is a great way to stay active and travel to new places to find exciting opportunities for adventure. We also appreciate time at the lake for water sports, unwinding, and connecting with loved ones! Our family also enjoys attending church together and building community with our friends. Our faith and community are essential to our lives, providing support, inspiration, and a sense of belonging. We find a balance of activities that keep us active, connected, and fulfilled. We feel so blessed to have a tight-knit family and countless other meaningful relationships that make doing life TOGETHER so special!
